The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) once again affirmed its growing footprint in international research as its faculty researchers actively participated in the 3rd International Research and Innovation Conference on Education, Engineering, and Agriculture (IRICEEA 2025) held on December 3β5, 2025 at the International Convention Center, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), Bacnotan, La Union.
Representing USeP across the Education, Agriculture, and Engineering tracks were faculty researchers who demonstrated the Universityβs growing research strength. The Education track featured Dr. Ruby A. Serrano, Ms. Yvonne M. Kiel, and Ms. Mary Rose J. Ponce, while the Agriculture track was represented by Dr. Merlina H. Juruena and Ms. Sheryl S. Bayang. In the Engineering track, Engr. Nikka Samantha A. Basan, Engr. Kim P. Ravida, Engr. Reymar S. Ledesma, and Engr. Elwin Jay J. Tano participated virtually via Zoom. Through their presentations, the USeP delegation actively contributed to the global exchange of knowledge in line with the conference theme, βAI in Research and Innovation: Accelerating Discoveries in Engineering, Education, and Agriculture.β
A major highlight of the conference was the outstanding victory of Ms. Yvonne M. Kiel, who clinched the Best Presenter Award in Education (Curricular and Policy Studies β Category B) for her paper entitled βUnderstanding Studentsβ Attitudes and Motivations for Using Artificial Intelligence: A Structural Model Approach.β The recognition underscores USePβs leadership in advancing research on artificial intelligence and its transformative impact on teaching and learning.
Equally significant was USePβs participation in the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing with new local and international partners during the opening day of the conference. The ceremonial signing formalized collaborative efforts among higher education institutions and research organizations, paving the way for expanded research networks, joint projects, and strengthened international linkages in education, engineering, and agriculture.
As a co-organizer of IRICEEA 2025, USePβs active role in the conference reaffirmed its strategic direction toward internationalization, collaborative research, and innovation-driven development. The achievements of its faculty researchers not only brought pride to the University but also highlighted USePβs vital contribution to shaping future-ready research across disciplines.
