The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) celebrates a resounding victory as its student-researchers and creative talents secured top placements at the IGNITE: Inspiring Growth, Nurturing Ideas, and Transforming Excellence β A Student R&D Conference on Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources, held on December 5, 2025 at the USeP Social Hall, Obrero, Davao City. The event, organized by the Southern Mindanao Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (SMAARRDEC), gathered the brightest AANR student-researchers and creatives across the region to present outstanding works in research, policy development, poster design, and digital art.
Leading USePβs victory is Ms. Nur Jamma B. Constancio (CARS), who clinched 1st Place in the Agriculture & Natural Resources Category for her research contribution. She further showcased her analytical skills by securing 2nd Place in the Policy Pitching Competition, exemplifying her versatility both in scientific inquiry and policy development.
In the Aquatic & Natural Resources category, Mr. Craig Andrei S. Gimongala (CAS) earned 1st Place, proving the strength and relevance of USePβs emerging researchers whose work strengthens biodiversity knowledge, ecological monitoring practices, and conservation efforts in critical natural areas.
Creative excellence was also strongly represented. Mr. Carlos Magbanua (CARS) captured 1st Place in the Poster Competition with a research poster that featured clarity, coherence, and strong visual communication, elements that resonated with both judges and audiences. Meanwhile, Ms. Nicky Angela H. Solis (CAEc) secured 3rd Place in the On-the-Spot Digital Painting Contest, showcasing artistic innovation aligned with the conferenceβs AANR advocacy.
This yearβs IGNITE Conference spotlighted the crucial role of young researchers in shaping the future of agriculture, aquatic sciences, and natural resource management. Through this platform, students are empowered to refine their research skills, engage with industry and academic experts, and contribute meaningfully to discussions on food security, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
