The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), through its Research and Development Division (R&DD), gathered its colleagues and workforce on November 18, 2025, for the R&DD Year-End Evaluation cum Planning and Target Setting for FY 2026, a full-day strategic activity anchored on the theme βHarnessing Lessons, Inspiring Commitment, and Shaping Strategic Pathways for a More Responsive and Impactful R&DD in FY 2026.β
The day opened with a warm welcome from R&DD Director Dr. Merlina H. Juruena. Shortly after, Dr. Roger C. Montepio, Vice President for RDE, delivered his message of support, setting the tone for a reflective yet forward-looking engagement.
Momentum built as Mr. Kevin C. Viray, R&DD Education Program Specialist II, presented the 2025 overview and key accomplishments, offering participants a clear picture of the Divisionβs progress, milestones, and areas of growth. This seamlessly transitioned into a technical session led by Ms. Hairel Christy G. Taunan, Planning Officer II of the University, who discussed FY 2026 R&D targets, institutional planning forms, and budget updates, equipping participants with the tools and directions needed for the workshops ahead.
An open forum allowed participants to clarify processes and align expectations, creating space for shared understanding before the hands-on work began. The morning and early afternoon were dedicated to Workshop Session I, where participants collaborated in drafting their 2026 Action Plans and Priority Targets, ensuring that strategies for the coming year are grounded in evidence, experience, and institutional priorities.
By mid-afternoon, Workshop Session II shifted the focus toward integrating ongoing research initiatives and new proposals, fostering continuity and coherence across research programs. This culminated in the plenary presentation of outputs, where Research Centers and Publication Unit representatives shared their synthesized plans for 2026.
The day closed with reflections and synthesis delivered by Dr. Randy A. Tudy, Publication Unit Deputy Director, reinforcing the spirit of collaboration and accountability that guided the entire activity.
With its unified effort and collective commitment, the R&DD strengthens its role as a vital arm of USePβs vision to become a Premier Research University transforming communities in the ASEAN and beyond.
