On 29 August 2025, the University of Southeastern Philippines Malabog Extension Campus (USeP MEC) recently hosted its much-anticipated General Orientation for the Academic Year 2025-2026. The event aimed to familiarize new and transferee students with the Universityโ€™s mission, core values, and available services, setting a strong foundation for their academic journey.
The orientation commenced with welcome messages from esteemed USeP officials, including Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., the University President, who emphasized the institutionโ€™s commitment to excellence and student success. Following this, Dr. Jeneifer C. Nueva, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Aristeo C. Salapa, Dean of the College of Development Management, shared insights into the academic standards and expectations at USeP. Moreover, Hon. Jessielito C. Areja, Barangay Captain of BLGU Malabog, Davao City, extended warm greetings to the new students and encouraged them to actively participate in campus activities.
The program then transitioned into a series of presentations designed to orient students to the Universityโ€™s various services and policies. Mr. Rhoderick A. Aviles, Director of the Institutional Planning Division, outlined the Universityโ€™s guiding principles and aspirations. Mr. Rannie A. Bartolome, OSAS MEC Coordinator, introduced the support systems available to students, including student development programs. Ms. Shena Mae Garcia, MEC Librarian, highlighted the resources and facilities accessible to students for their academic needs. Dr. Fedelis C. Bonocan, Director of the Office of the University Registrar, detailed the registration processes and academic policies. Meanwhile, Ms. Ruchela P. Gamao, Guidance Counselor from the University Assessment and Guidance Center, discussed student assessment procedures and guidance services. Mr. Genesesly R. Tahoy, Director of Gender and Development, shared initiatives promoting gender equality and development within the campus. Finally, Atty. Edward Caesar J. Bedro, Director of the Office of Legal Affairs, addressed important policies on safe spaces, sexual harassment prevention, and the single-use plastic policy, emphasizing the Universityโ€™s commitment to a safe and sustainable environment.โ€
The event concluded with an open forum where students could clarify their queries and express their excitement for the upcoming academic year. The successful orientation program signifies the Universityโ€™s dedication to nurturing well-informed, responsible, and engaged students as they embark on their higher education journey.
