Victory for Region XI: Irish Pregua of USeP TMC Clinches the National Championship in Organic Agriculture Quiz Bee

Bringing pride to Region XI and the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), Ms. Irish Ale Peja Pregua, a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Plant Pathology at the College of Agriculture and Related Sciences (CARS), emerged as champion in the 4th National Kabataang OA Quiz Bee held at the Great Eastern Hotel, Quezon City, on November 25, 2025.

With the theme “Kabuhayang OA, Kinabukasang OK: Halina at Kumita sa Organikong Agrikultura!”, the competition underscored the vital role of young Filipinos in advancing organic agriculture. It challenged participants to broaden their knowledge of ecological farming, sustainable food systems, and environmentally friendly agricultural innovations.
Delegates from 14 schools nationwide competed, transforming the national stage into a dynamic arena of knowledge, advocacy, and youthful enthusiasm. Pregua’s success was made possible through the strong support of the Agricultural Training Institute–Regional Training Center XI (ATI–RTC XI), together with her dedicated coach, Ms. Lira May A. Sibongga, and Engr. Ariel D. Abastillas, ATI–RTC XI Focal Person, whose guidance and mentorship elevated the team’s performance throughout the competition.

Pregua’s victory resonates beyond the competition hall, affirming that the youth of Region XI are poised to lead the way toward a greener, more sustainable future. Her achievement stands as a testament to the academic excellence nurtured at USeP, the strength of regional partnerships, and the growing movement of young advocates committed to making organic agriculture not only a livelihood, but a lasting legacy.
