The University of Southeastern Philippinesโ€™ Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Cultural Studies (BALCS) program has successfully surpassed Level I Accreditation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), marking a significant milestone in its pursuit of academic excellence.

The accreditation survey visit last November 24-28, 2025, conducted by the AACCUP evaluation team rigorously assessed key areas including Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives, Faculty, Curriculum and Instruction, Support to Students, Research, Extension and Community Involvement, Library, Physical Plant and Facilities, Laboratories, and Administration. The programโ€™s performance not only met but exceeded the standards required for Level I, reflecting its strong foundation and commitment to quality education in the humanities.

The survey team commended the BALCS program for its dynamic and interdisciplinary approach to literature and cultural studies, emphasizing its role in fostering critical thinking, cultural awareness, and engagement with local and global narratives. Particular recognition was given to the programโ€™s efforts in integrating Mindanaoan, Indigenous, and multicultural perspectives into its curriculum.
