The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) Bachelor of Science in Biology, major in Animal Science, proudly joined the global research community at the 2nd International Agri-Life and Bioresource Sciences Symposium hosted by the University of San Carlos, Talamban, Cebu City, last February 26–27, 2026, centered on the theme “Green Frontiers: Advancing Agri-Life and Bioresource Technologies.”

This premier gathering brought together researchers, scientists, and academic institutions dedicated to bridging the gap between scientific discovery and the implementation of sustainable solutions for global ecosystems.

Representing the USeP community were three faculty members—Dr. Cindy Abas, Dr. Marnie Grace I. Sonico, and Mr. Daryl S. Salas—who served as mentors to four students: Ms. Joyce Mariele C. Romero, Ms. Khria Junaza, Ms. Janelle Joyce D. Cipriano, and Ms. Christian Joy E. Lape. Together, they presented the following scientific studies:

“Endoparasitic Nematodes Isolated from Terrestrial Snails among Selected Ornamental Plants Nurseries in Tagum City,” presented by Ms. Joyce Mariele C. Romero with adviser Dr. Marnie Grace I. Sonico.

“Pygmy Grasshoppers in Mount Talomo, Davao City, Philippines,” presented by Ms. Khria Junaza with adviser Mr. Daryl S. Salas.

“Bat Diversity in Talomo Sibulan, Davao City, Philippines,” presented by Ms. Janelle Joyce D. Cipriano with adviser Mr. Daryl S. Salas.

“Terrestrial Snails in Selected Nurseries of Ornamental Plants in Panabo City, Davao del Norte,” presented by Ms. Christian Joy E. Lape with adviser Dr. Cindy Abas.

Behind these successful presentations lies the dedicated mentorship of Dr. Cindy Abas, Dr. Marnie Grace I. Sonico, and Mr. Daryl S. Salas, whose guidance was instrumental in shaping the confidence, discipline, and scientific rigor of their students. Their commitment reflects USeP’s enduring mission to nurture research excellence and innovation.
