The signing of the Term Sheet between the ๐๐ฃ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐จ๐๐ฉ๐ฎ ๐ค๐ ๐๐ค๐ช๐ฉ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ง๐ฃ ๐ฅ๐๐๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ฃ๐๐จ (๐๐๐๐) and ๐บ๐๐๐ ๐ป๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐marks a significant milestone in the Universityโs effort to commercialize its patented technology, the โMechanical Coconut Dehuskerโ (Patent Application No. 1/2025/050318).
Developed by faculty researchers led by Engr, Ryan Abenoja, together with Dr. Roger C. Montepio and Engr. Ruel Tuyogon, this innovation embodies USePโs commitment to advancing research-based solutions that address industry and community needs. The Term Sheet outlines the key terms and conditions of the forthcoming๐ป๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ณ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ (๐ป๐ณ๐จ), granting Suki Trading Corporation a three-year sole license to manufacture, distribute, and sell the said technology.
This partnership reinforces the Universityโs dedication to technology transfer and innovation-driven development. Under the agreement, Suki Trading Corporation will manage the production and distribution of the technology, while USeP, through the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Division (KTTD) and the Inventors, will oversee quality control and monitor commercialization activities.
The initiative not only strengthens industry-academe collaboration but also supports regional economic growth by promoting locally developed technologies that enhance efficiency in the coconut processing sector. It reflects USePโs continuing contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly ๐๐ฟ๐ 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and ๐๐ฟ๐ 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), turning innovation into real-world impact for communities.
