On July 14, 2026, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP), through its Gender and Development (GAD) Office, in collaboration with the Health Services Division conducted an Online Consultative and Coordinative Meeting on the Development of Breastfeeding Guidelines via Google Meet. Bringing together University officials and representatives from the Department of Health (DOH) Regional Office XI. The consultation served as a significant step toward establishing a Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace and developing institutional breastfeeding guidelines that uphold the rights and welfare of breastfeeding employees.

In his welcome remarks, Assoc. Prof. Genesesly R. Tahoy, GAD Director, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to fostering a safe, gender-responsive, and supportive work environment where employees can thrive while balancing their professional and family responsibilities. Serving as the resource speaker, Ms. Mayflor Peralta-Espiritu, RND, of DOH Region XI emphasized the importance of creating breastfeeding-friendly workplaces, citing Republic Act No. 10028, Civil Service Commission policies, and DOH standards that encourage government institutions to provide appropriate policies, facilities, and support systems for breastfeeding mothers and also explored the essential components of functional lactation stations, breastfeeding breaks, breast milk storage, and institutional policy development through an engaging discussion that encouraged the exchange of ideas, experiences, and practical recommendations.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment between USeP and DOH Region XI to continue refining and developing comprehensive breastfeeding guidelines through sustained consultation and collaboration.
