On August 7, 2026, the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) took another meaningful step toward fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment through the Webinar on the Safe Spaces Act for Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel across all campuses. Organized by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office,in collaboration with the Office of Legal Affairs and Legal Aid Center, the webinar provided a timely discussion on safe spaces, accountability, and the shared responsibility of preventing harassment in the workplace and learning environment. The activity opened with the Welcome Remarks of Vice President for Administration Dr. Maria Luisa B. Faunillan, followed by GAD Director Assoc. Prof. Genesesly R. Tahoy, who emphasized the objectives of the webinar and the importance of promoting safe and gender-responsive spaces.

The webinar featured two sessions: Atty. Edward Caesar J. Bedro facilitated “Understanding the Safe Spaces Act in the University Setting: From Awareness to Everyday Practice,” which deepened participants’ understanding of the law and its application in the University setting. Meanwhile, Atty. Jesus A. Villardo III led “Anti-Sexual Harassment in the Workplace and Learning Environment: Boundaries, Accountability, and Institutional Response,” highlighting the importance of recognizing boundaries, promoting accountability, and strengthening institutional responses to sexual harassment. The activity concluded with the participation of USeP Records Officer and Non-Teaching Staff Association President Mr. Robert Satorre, reinforcing the University’s commitment to upholding dignity, respect, and safety. Ultimately, the webinar underscored that creating safe spaces is a shared responsibility strengthened through awareness, respect, accountability, and collective action.
