The College of Development Management (CDM) of the University of Southeastern Philippines brought together its key internal and external partners for a stakeholders\u2019 consultation aimed at recalibrating its undergraduate programs toward the changing demands of development work and public service. The activity, held on February 4, 2026, reaffirmed the college\u2019s commitment to a participatory and quality-driven curriculum review for its flagship programs in Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, Community Development, Public Administration, and Development Anthropology. The stakeholders comprised partner agencies, alumni, and students, reflecting the college\u2019s resolve to ensure that its curricula remain relevant and responsive to real-world needs.<\/p>\n

Dean Dr. Grace Meroflor A. Lantajo formally welcomed the participants and framed the consultation as both an accountability mechanism and an opportunity to align CDM\u2019s offerings with its mandate of nurturing development managers and public servants. This was followed by an inspirational message from the Vice President for Academic Affairs, who emphasized the urgency of coming up with a revised curriculum that would directly contribute to the upskilling of CDM graduates and strengthen their readiness for industry, community work, and public sector engagement. In her message, Dr. Nueva challenged the CDM academic unit to offer the revised curriculum as early as the next academic year and assured everyone that the Office of the VPAA stands ready to provide technical support throughout the review process.<\/p>\n

To anchor the discussions, Curriculum Committee Chair Dr. Moises C. Torrentira Jr. delivered the statement of purpose and consultation objectives, situating the activity within broader efforts to make CDM\u2019s programs more outcomes-based and competency-oriented. He underscored that the consultation sought to generate concrete inputs on college goals, graduate outcomes, course offerings, and learning outcomes that would better equip CDM students for emerging development challenges. Dr. Torrentira then facilitated the first workshop on College Goals Mapping, where participants revisited CDM\u2019s vision, mission, and program thrusts vis-\u00e0-vis current policy directions and stakeholder expectations in development management and governance.<\/p>\n

The program then transitioned into breakout sessions led by program heads: Dr. Nekilo B. Tangge for BS Agricultural Business, Dr. Melissa H. Aratia for BS Agricultural Economics, Dr. Bernadeth A. Talip for BS Community Development, Dr. Ronie G. Panes for the Bachelor of Public Administration, and Ms. Charibelle I. Laborte for BS Development Anthropology. Within these groups, stakeholders engaged in workshops on Graduate Outcomes Mapping, Course Mapping, and Learning Outcomes Mapping, ensuring that proposed revisions align with discipline standards, regulatory requirements, and the competencies demanded by communities, government agencies, and development institutions. The sessions allowed faculty, partner agencies, alumni, and students to articulate expectations for CDM graduates, scrutinize existing course offerings, and identify gaps and redundancies that must be addressed in the revised curriculum.<\/p>\n

The plenary session reconvened with Dr. Cherry Ann P. Cutad presenting a synthesis of the consultation, weaving together key insights from the goals-mapping and breakout workshops into thematic directions for curriculum revision. She highlighted the convergence of recommendations around stronger field-based learning, interdisciplinary approaches, and clearer articulation of graduate attributes across the college\u2019s academic programs. Associate Dean Dr. Ronie G. Panes delivered the closing remarks, affirming the college\u2019s resolve to translate the consultation outputs into concrete curriculum proposals and to sustain engagements with stakeholders as part of CDM\u2019s regular quality assurance cycle.<\/p>\n

The stakeholders\u2019 consultation was widely regarded as a success, with participants expressing optimism that CDM will be able to offer its revised curriculum in the next academic year. The CDM community looks ahead with a shared sense of purpose, hopeful that collective efforts will continue and that faculty, administrators, partner agencies, alumni, and students will work as one toward the common goal of producing graduates who are better prepared to lead and serve in the fields of agricultural business, agricultural economics, community development, public administration, and development anthropology.<\/p>\n
